Bayero
Agabi journalism career has spanned through over a decade.
Starting as a film editor with channels television in 1993,
bayero has risen in profile to become Nigeria’s leading ict
broadcast journalist since joining Africa independent
television AIT in 1997, where he has coordinated various
political programmes that dared the military dictators at
that time. Agabi also has experience in computer graphics
animation and camera operation.
In 1998 he pioneered ICT on television with a programme
called AITINFOTECH NETWORK now Africa’s leading and most
popular ICT programme on television.
So far Bayero Agabi has won over 15 awards both local and
international for his efforts at promoting ICT development
in the region. Some of his awards include excellence award
from association of telecoms operator of Nigeria, Nigeria
computer society as best ICT reporter for three years
consequently both on radio and television, excellence award
from international federation for excellence, the uneca/aisi
media wards 2005, excellence award from economic students
association UNIBEN etc.
A graduate of mass communication from the university of Jos,
Nigeria; and with a post graduate diploma in public
administration, Bayero has also undergone several trainings
in broadcast journalism, television presentation, computer
education and telecoms marketing with relevant organizations
such as Lagos business school, Nigeria Television College
and BBC/AIT training courses. He has also pioneered running
ventures. Agabi is a co-founder/Director knowledge media
international publisher of IT Edge in English and French
which has also won uneca/aisi award

Bayero Agabi is a member of IDPM Institute of Data
Processing Management Nigeria, Regional Coordinator Africa

secretary general JOINT ACTION COMMITTEE ON ICT AWARENESS
AND DEVELOPMENT. (JACITAD).

Segun
Ohimeh Oruame
Segun holds a BA (Hons) degree in English Studies (1991)
from the University of Jos and a Master degree
from the same University in Law & Diplomacy (1997). A
security and intelligence researcher at Alpha Investigation
Agency (Jos), he joined The Comet national news daily as an
IT reporter (2000) and rose to become IT Editor. He left in
2003 to become Editor of IT & Telecom Digest to help
position it as the country’s flagship IT magazine. While at
The Comet, he started contributing to the London based
Communication Weekly International, now Total Telecom.
Segun is married to a graduate with a degree in
English & Linguistics; together they have three
beautiful daughters. He is currently the national
coordinator of the Joint Action Committee on ICT
Awareness and Development (JACITAD), a not-for-profit media
platform for creating awareness and development in ICT. In
April, 2004 his family decided to drop the name AREGBEYEN
for ORUAME “in honour of my late father’s wish: Chief Rufus
Olatuegbe Oruame who died in May 2003.” He now bears Segun
Ohimeh Oruame. He is a member of the Ministerial Strategic
Committee on Information Technology and head of the
Ministerial Sub-Committee on IT Popularisation & Awareness.
Among his awards is the Consumer Writer 2003 Award by All
Associations of Consumers Organisations Unions (ANCOMU) for
his incisive column Matters eRising that has been running
every week at The Comet on Mondays since 2001. At IT &
Telecom Digest magazine, he maintained the column Backward
Forward. He is the Editor of IT Edge.
